Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov told U.S. officials that Kiev agrees "90 percent" with President Trump's peace plan presented in Paris this week, the New York Post reported, citing a senior Washington official.
The question now is whether Moscow will join or not?
"Next week in London, we want to make a decision on a full and comprehensive ceasefire," the official said, noting that "the goal is to then have discussions with the Russians and then say, 'OK, this is your best and final offer,' to find out where both sides stand."
Meanwhile, the United States is reportedly ready to recognize Russian control over Ukraine's Crimea region as part of a broader peace deal between Moscow and Kiev, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Russia and Ukraine will carry out an exchange of about 500 prisoners, including 46 wounded soldiers, brokered by the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, media said.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed bilateral trade, ongoing talks to reach a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and regional security in the Middle East. This was said by the White House in a statement reporting the phone call between the two leaders. The US president also said he was looking forward to his next state visit to the United Kingdom with King Charles III, scheduled for later this year. (A2 Televizion)
