Vance: It's absurd for Zelenskyy to say the US is on Russia's side

US Vice President JD Vance has again criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying it is "absurd" for the Ukrainian leader to suggest that the US is "somehow on the side of the Russians."

According to foreign media, this statement followed Zelensky's statements that spoke of the "altered reality" that was presented to him, a reference to the disastrous meeting at the White House and the disinformation circulating that Ukraine somehow started the war, with Donald Trump saying that Joe Biden, Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin were all to blame for yesterday's war.

"You should try to understand"

Vance, who has taken a combative approach to Ukraine and Europe since becoming Vice President, said he had been condemning Russia since 2022, but since then, according to him, he had tried to understand the strategic objectives of both sides to find a solution, writes A2 CNN.

"This doesn't mean that you morally support the Russian cause, or that you support the full-scale invasion, but you should try to understand what their strategic red lines are, in the same way that you should try to understand how the Ukrainians are trying to get out of the conflict," he said.

"I think it's kind of absurd for Zelenskyy to tell the US government, which is currently holding his entire government and war effort together, that we're somehow on the side of the Russians," he continued.

He said that kind of rhetoric was "certainly unproductive."

Recall that the US has provided billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, which includes military equipment and financial assistance, but Europe as a whole has donated more.

It is also worth noting that much of the US funding for Ukraine is spent at home, on America's defense industries.  (A2 Televizion)
