New York police have warned private health insurance industry executives to be vigilant after discovering a "target list" circulating online following the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thomson.
The warning is contained in a "bulletin" containing several online comments about the names and salaries of other VIPs in the health insurance industry and on "Wanted" posters posted at various locations in Manhattan after the assassination. .
The warning comes after a flurry of posts on social media suggest that suspect Luigi Mangione could be seen as a "martyr" who could inspire extremists to act.
Meanwhile, New York police announced that bullets found at the scene of the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson match the gun seized from suspected killer Luigi Mangione.
"The gun is in NYPD labs and we were able to match it to three shell casings found at the scene of the murder," said New York Police Chief Jessica Tisch, also confirming that police matched Mangione's fingerprints to those of found in a bottle of water in a bar near the place of the murder.
