Russia has attacked Ukrainian energy facilities 1,200 times since the beginning of its invasion in 2022, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said.
According to foreign media, she said at a press conference in Davos that the figure included attacks on more than 800 electricity substations, distribution and power lines, more than 250 strikes on energy production facilities and more than 30 on gas facilities.
According to the International Energy Agency, during the period 2022-2023, about half of Ukraine's power generation capacity was occupied by Russian forces, destroyed or damaged, writes A2 CNN.
We recall that due to these Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the country has experienced 'wild' winters in recent years, which have further increased the hardship for the civilian population.
Thousands of people, civilians and military, have lost their lives in the fighting in Ukraine since February 2022, following the launch of Russia's unjustified aggression against its western neighbor. (A2 Televizion)
