The celebration of the 17th anniversary of Kosovo's independence began with a symbolic meeting of the Government. In front of the government cabinet, Prime Minister Albin Kurti honored all those who fell for freedom and appreciated the contribution of all activists for Kosovo's independence.
Focusing on the state's successes, Kurti said that progress is due to the merit of the institutions, the people, and international friends and partners, writes A2 CNN.
"Our Republic today is stronger and more vital than ever before, not only because we have invested in security and defense, but because we have strengthened democratic institutions and normalized their functioning to serve first and foremost, and above all, the citizens of the Republic," said Kurti.
Immediately after the meeting, in the space where the three most important institutions, the Assembly, the Presidency and the Government, are united, the state flag was raised.
In her speech, President Vjosa Osmani, remembering former President Ibrahim Rugova and Commander Adem Jashari, said that the Republic will move forward because no one can stop the progress of the independent and sovereign state of Kosovo.
"It is a day when we celebrate the successes that our Republic has achieved in these 17 years, strengthening sovereignty, strengthening statehood and international subjectivity, strengthening the rule of law, democracy and the economy," said Osmani.
Prime Minister Kurti said that the country's success is proof that it has worked in accordance with the legacy and ideals of the nation's martyrs.
"We can be proud that we have lived up to the sacrifice, the sacrifice of so many martyrs and martyrs, the extraordinary contribution of both peaceful and armed resistance, the disabled, KLA veterans and all the activists who stood by in difficult times so that we could have good times," Kurti said.
