The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, this morning paid homage at the "Martyrs of Koshare" Memorial Complex, on the 26th anniversary of the glorious battle of Koshare.
"We come here to the graves of the martyrs to remember and remind ourselves of how great their sacrifice was, how glorious the KLA's war is, and how great the price of the freedom we enjoy, of the state we are building together," the prime minister said after the tributes.
He emphasized that 26 years ago, with the glorious battle of Koshara, the Kosovo Liberation Army, with fighters from almost all units of its operational areas, demolished the border that separated Albanians, that separated Kosovo from Albania, which had been old since 1913, respectively from 1918.
"From the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army, 114 fighters fell martyrs, led by commander Agim Ramadani - Katana and Sali Çeku, but we also had over 400 wounded. At least 108 soldiers and officers of the aggressor and occupying Serbian army were killed. In addition, it is important to note that in the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army we had volunteers from France and Algeria, from Italy, Sweden and Britain, while in the ranks of the Serbian army there were mercenaries from Russia," Prime Minister Kurti further declared.
