The specialized diving and search and rescue units of the Kosovo Security Force have launched this morning the search and rescue operation for the 33-year-old who fell into Lake Ujman on Sunday. Kosovo Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci announced that they are engaged in supporting civil authorities in the search for the body of the migrant in Lake Ujman in the Municipality of Zubin Potok.
"The Kosovo Security Force, within the framework of its essential tasks, also has the support of civil authorities. In this regard, in cooperation with the Emergency Management Agency, the Kosovo Police and in coordination with KFOR, specialized KSF teams have begun the search operation in Lake Ujman with the aim of retrieving the body of the migrant as soon as possible and easing the pain of the family," writes Maqedonci on Facebook, alongside photos from this operation.
On Sunday afternoon, the 33-year-old jumped into Lake Ujman, was never seen again on the surface, and so far there is still no trace of him.
The landing of KSF troops in the Serb-majority north can only be done with the prior consent of KFOR, based on a commitment made in 2013 by the Government of Kosovo and NATO.
