From January 1, 2025, citizens of Kosovo will not have the opportunity to clear customs vehicles older than the year of production 2015.
This is defined in the new Law on Vehicles, approved by the Assembly of Kosovo, which prohibits the importation of cars older than 10 years. According to Article 44 of this law, only vehicles that meet Euro 4 standards can be imported into Kosovo.
Also, the law requires that the vehicles that are imported have a certificate of conformity for new cars and proof of the origin and ownership of the vehicle or its parts.
According to official data, there are about 500,000 registered vehicles circulating in Kosovo, with an average age of 18 years. Over 144,000 of these vehicles were imported from Germany and are mainly of the Volkswagen brand.
This measure aims to improve air quality and road safety, increasing the standards of vehicles circulating in the country. (A2 Televizion)
