The European Union called on the Assembly of Kosovo to approve the draft law on religious freedoms through which the status of the Serbian Orthodox Church is regulated.
"This law is in the interest of all communities and we invite the deputies of the assembly to support its adoption", spokeswoman Anita Hiper said at a press conference in Brussels.
In the Ohrid agreement, Kosovo and Serbia have agreed that the parties will formalize the status of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
"The parties will formalize the status of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo and provide a strong level of protection for objects of Serbian religious and cultural heritage, in accordance with existing European models," states, among other things, Article 7 of the agreement of February 27, 2023 .
