The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, is having a series of meetings with officials of the American Congress in the United States, with whom she said she is discussing the importance of American support in many sectors of the country she leads.
Through several posts on Facebook, Osmani has said that he has met with Republican senators: Ted Cruz, Joni Ernst and Thom Tillis, as well as congressmen, Gary Palmer and Pete Sessions.
"Cooperation and regular communication are key to the right action at the right time. Kosovo and the USA have ample space and opportunities for opening new chapters of cooperation, therefore this is one of the main objectives in the journey forward", said Osmani after the end of one of the meetings.
She said that she also discussed cooperation in the field of security, in order to prevent the efforts of harmful actors for more "chaos and instability".
Osmani's visit to the US is taking place a few weeks before the inauguration of the US president-elect, Donald Trump.
Erin Elizabeth McKee, assistant administrator in the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia at USAID, told Radio Free Europe weeks ago that US relations with Kosovo have not wavered during different administrations and that the commitment of the American people to the people of Kosovo is convinced that it will continue.
The US has allocated over $2 billion to Kosovo since 1998, and its support has been crucial, including on the road to independence.
Kosovar state leaders often repeat that America is Kosovo's most important partner and that its support is vital.
However, in some cases, in recent years, Washington's relations with the Government of Kosovo have been strained, although government officials have repeatedly repeated that they coordinate and have close cooperation with the USA. (A2 Televizion)
