The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has expressed condolences on the death of Haxhi Thaçi, the father of former president, Hashim Thaçi.
Osmani said that his contribution and love for his homeland will become a guide and a proud memory for all those who knew him.
"We learned with sadness the news of the passing of Mr. Haxhi Thaçi, the father of the former President and former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi. The loss of a father is an immeasurable pain, which leaves an irreplaceable void in his loved ones. I hope that his contribution and love for the homeland will become a guide and a proud memory for all those who knew him. On my behalf and on behalf of the people of Kosovo, I express my most sincere condolences to former President Thaçi, the entire Thaçi family, as well as to the friends and relatives of Mr. Haxhi Thaçi. May his memory be eternal," the president wrote.
Haxhi Thaçi passed away on Sunday after a long illness. The news was announced by the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, who expressed condolences to the Thaçi family and the entire Albanian people. He was hospitalized in Pristina hospital for treatment, while on March 13, 2025, former president Hashim Thaçi, currently in custody in The Hague, had received permission to visit his father.
