The Municipality of Pristina has declared a state of emergency for waste management in the capital. According to the Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, this situation has come to this point because the PDK-Lëvizja Vetëvendosje coalition is attempting to prevent the engagement of private companies in waste management through amendments to the regulation.
Rama said that with the actions they had taken through the engagement of a private waste company, the situation had improved.
The mayor of the capital stated that the deterioration of waste management has begun and is continuing in all parts of Pristina.
The Director of Public Services in the municipality of Pristina, Bekim Brestovci, stated that the actions of the opposition parties PDK and Vetevendosje Movement contradict Kosovo's laws.
The Director of Public Services warned that the waste situation will continue to deteriorate, but stressed that they will take all necessary actions.
Brestovci said that the company "Pastrimi" due to lack of logistics has not distributed the 250 new containers nor has it registered the new trucks. Kosovapress (A2 Televizion)
