NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that stability in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia is in everyone's interest and he sees no reason to believe that there could be any dramatic change in terms of American commitment to the Western military alliance.

He made these comments during his stay in Bratislava, Slovakia, when he was asked in a debate with students whether he sees the possibility of a resumption of the conflict in Kosovo, amid rumors that the new American policy could lead to the military withdrawal of troops in KFOR, writes A2.

"From what I understand from the American system, they are fully committed to NATO and the current commitments. But let's see what happens. We can always have policy changes or small adaptations. But I have no reason to believe that there will be dramatic decisions. We must make sure that we maintain the focus on the Western Balkans, because stability in Kosovo, in Bosnia and Serbia is in the interest of all of us," Rutte said.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin has denied reports in recent days that Russian officials have asked the United States to withdraw NATO troops from eastern states or on the border with Russia.  (A2 Televizion)
