Kosovo has become the subject of heated debate in St. Petersburg, Russia. A park in the city appears to have recognized Kosovo and displayed the country's flag on one of the signs placed there, writes A2.
Local media reported that the incident caused shock among residents. After the heated controversy that erupted, authorities later covered the sign with black paint to prevent further escalation.
The prosecutor's office has been called in to investigate the case.
Russia is Serbia's main ally and has consistently expressed support for its stance against Kosovo's statehood. Moscow even uses the Kosovo issue as a foreign policy argument to justify interventions in Ukraine's eastern region of Donbas. (A2 Televizion)
