Three illegal social work centers in the north closed
The raid began after the arrest of four officials of the Center for Social Work in Zubin-Potok in connection with the offense of "violating voter identification," and the Police requested the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica to allow them to inspect the centers.
Kosovo Police have closed three illegal social work centers in the north.
The Deputy Director of Police for the Northern Region, Veton Elshani, said that the checks were carried out with the aim of discovering evidence that would prove the modus operandi of the illegal activity, which is considered document forgery.
"On February 8, 2025, one day before the Parliamentary elections in Kosovo, we arrested 4 people in connection with the crime of violating voter registration.
In fact, these officials of the social work center, which was in a parallel/illegal structure, were suspected of having called various citizens on the phone and, under the form of threats, forced or instructed them on how to vote by conditioning social assistance with their vote in favor of a certain political party that was competing for the parliamentary elections in Kosovo," said Elshani.
