"Symbol of unity and reconciliation", Kosovo honors Rugova on the 19th anniversary of his death

Kosovo honored the figure of Ibrahim Rugova, on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the historic president's death. President Osmani, the leader and members of the LDK, as well as foreign diplomats paid homage at his grave, while a memorial ceremony was later held. Osmani said that Rugovism is a spirit that brings unity, and praised Rugova for placing Kosovo at the table of international diplomacy.

"President Rugova was a visionary politician, a philosopher and profound thinker, and a leader who gave Kosovo's politics its most important dimension, the human one, but also the cultural dimension of the example of modern times... He was the one who placed Kosovo at the table of international diplomacy, who created friendship with the United States of America, with European countries and democratic countries around the world. Thus, he gave our cause an indisputable national legitimacy... With this approach, he placed Kosovo on the map of the world's democratic consciousness and made our national cause an example of residency compared to the greatest human rights movements of the 20th century", emphasized Osmani.

Former President Fatmir Sejdiu said that Rugova will be remembered as the voice of Kosovo in the world and called him a symbol of unity and reconciliation in Kosovo politics.

"Rugova will always remain a symbol of unity and reconciliation. A leader who managed to realize the historical dream of Albanians in Kosovo and everywhere for a free and independent Kosovo. In the frequent meetings that I have had and still have with international officials, it is difficult to end the conversation without speaking respectfully about the work of President Rugova to appreciate the role and essential contribution of the architect and builder of the independent and sovereign state of Kosovo," Sejdiu emphasized.

Among the participants in this ceremony were the Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy, ​​Anu Prattipati, the EU Ambassador to Kosovo, Aivo Orav, the Head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Giovanni Pietro Barbano, and other foreign ambassadors.

After the end of the memorial ceremony, an exhibition of photographs of President Rugova, by photographer Hazir Reka, was opened. President Rugova's restored car was also exhibited. (A2 Televizion)
