Businesses in Kosovo supported by the Chamber of Commerce held a protest against the decision to liberalize the energy market. Businesses protested by blocking several entrances to Pristina against the decision to transition businesses to the free electricity market on June 1.

The President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Lulzim Rafuna, said that the request is related to the fact that institutions enable businesses to undergo a transition phase. Rafuna said that if there is no reflection, the protest council will meet for further steps. Meanwhile, the President of the Kosovo Business Alliance, Agim Shahini, said that "they are being forced to enter the free market."

Meanwhile, the acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, in a statement to the media, announced that the authorities have invited businesses to a meeting regarding the entry into the free market, but that according to her, "the Chamber of Commerce is being pressured not to hold meetings, but to protest."

Rizvanolli added that they are committed to addressing the concerns of businesses regarding entry into the free market, however, he emphasized that the decision will enter into force next week.
