Around 400 public buildings in Kosovo will be renovated according to energy efficiency principles by 2031. This comes after the signing of an agreement between the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The value of the projects amounts to 86 million euros.
"This agreement is further strengthened and multiplied by grants and additional support provided by other partner institutions, such as the EU or the Government of Denmark. This step directly affects the improvement of conditions for citizens who use the services from this investment. The idea is to make an investment in about 400 public buildings so that they are insulated and efficiency measures are increased in them. The total value of the project is 86 million euros," said the Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati.
The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, said that the project will have an impact on reducing energy consumption.
"Kosovo today consumes on average four times more per unit of gross domestic product produced compared to the EU average. Within this enormous consumption, the building stock consumes over 40 percent of the total energy consumed in the country. This puts into perspective how important it is for our buildings to be well insulated and have efficiency measures so that the overall consumption in the country is low and also facilitates our electricity system," she said.
The Managing Director of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, Driton Hetemi, said that they are working to ensure that the distribution of public building renovations is done according to the number of population.
On the other hand, the Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Kosovo, Sergiy Maslichenko, said that the signing of this agreement demonstrates the strong partnership between the EBRD and Kosovo. (A2 Televizion)
