The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren has imposed a 48-hour detention measure on the defendants arrested in today's case where a drug laboratory was discovered, and it is expected that they will also be given a detention measure.
In a statement, the Prosecutor's Office provides more detailed information on the police action carried out in Prizren,
"The Basic Prosecution in Prizren informs the public that in cooperation with the Kosovo Police - Drug Trafficking Investigation Unit - Gjakova, after a several-month investigation by implementing special investigative measures, today, on 23.04.2025, they conducted an action in Prizren, where a drug laboratory was discovered and three suspects were arrested.
The defendants, from an unconfirmed date and continuously until 23.04.2025, in Prizren, without authorization and in complicity, cultivate the plant "Cannabis Sativa" (Marijuana), for the purpose of producing narcotics or psychotropic substances, in such a way that in a closed facility they create an internal laboratory "In door", where they have cultivated and grown about 200 "Cannabis Sativa" plants, have dried them, and have prepared them for sale on the market.
With these actions, they committed the criminal offense of "Cultivation of hashish plants, cocaine bushes or cannabis plants" under Article 272, paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 31 of the Criminal Code.
Also, the same, without authorization and in collaboration, with the purpose of sale or distribution, cultivate the plant "Cannabis Sativa" with the purpose of offering for sale, which by law is declared a narcotic, in such a way that the defendants, after obtaining the narcotic from the cultivation they do of the plant themselves, plan to sell the narcotics to various persons throughout the Republic of Kosovo. With these actions in co-perpetration, they were to commit the criminal offense "Unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution and sale of narcotics, psychotropic and analogous substances" from Article 267, paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 31 of the Criminal Code.
During this operation, the facility was searched, during which the State Prosecutor, in addition to the "Cannabis Sativa" plants and other accompanying materials that were used for the cultivation of narcotics, also seized the residential building that was used for the cultivation of narcotics.
The three arrested defendants are under a 48-hour detention measure, and within the legal deadline for the same, the Serious Crimes Department will submit a request for the imposition of a detention measure.
