Kosovar authorities have temporarily closed 34 massage centers and nightclubs, as well as arrested 28 suspects during a wide-ranging operation in over 100 economic operators throughout Kosovo.
The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade of Kosovo (MINT) said in a communique on December 16 that its inspectors, in cooperation with the Police and Kosovo, the Tax Administration of Kosovo and other institutions, inspected 126 economic entities, which exercise commercial activity and entertainment activities.
MINT said that 34 of the inspected facilities were closed due to non-registration of businesses, as well as the lack of a permit for meeting the minimum technical conditions.
The Ministry also said that 45 punitive measures have been imposed against economic operators, who were exercising their activity in violation of the law, according to the legislation in force.
Meanwhile, in a separate communiqué, the Kosovo Police said that during this extensive operation they arrested 21 suspects and opened 10 cases related to prostitution, identified as "escorts".
The police said that they have also arrested seven women suspected of "child abuse or abandonment", after identifying seven children as beggars.
She said that in her operational plan "Days of joint action "JAD SEE 2024", many other countries have also participated, such as: Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia, Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Spain, France, as well as representatives from EUROPOL, FRONTEX and INTERPOL.
During the operation, a total of 73 documents were seized from foreign persons, which were sent to the Directorate for Migration and Foreigners in the Kosovo Police for verification.
