Major anti-drug operation in Kosovo, 22 people arrested and raids carried out in

Kosovo Police announced on Tuesday that after a months-long investigation, they managed to arrest 22 people and dismantle an organized crime group involved in drug trafficking.

"The individuals have been arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of 'organized crime', in connection with drug trafficking and money laundering. The defendants are suspected of having committed the criminal offenses through the 'SkyECC' application," said the statement issued by the justice authorities, which have ordered the launch of investigations.

SkyECC is an encrypted messaging app, which is accessed through a subscription.

The police announced that the action took place in the regions of Pristina, Prizren, Peja and Gjilan, and 47 locations were raided.

During the checks, considerable material evidence, narcotics, 129 vehicles, cash were seized, and funds in bank accounts worth 500 thousand euros were frozen.

Among the seized goods are "nine wristwatches of well-known brands, 36 weapons of various types, 1,569 different cartridges, 1,292 pieces of various ammunition, a press for packaging heroin and cocaine, laptops, phones, USBs and various documents."

The operation, called "Broken Sky", has been supported by effective data exchange with the authorities of Belgium, France, the Netherlands and EUROPOL, which has ensured international police coordination.

Police and justice authorities have said that this operation is the result of a long investigation against organized crime groups that are engaged in international drug trafficking, money laundering and other forms of organized crime./ REL (A2 Televizion)
