The Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica has announced that two people died today as a result of shooting in the village of Stanoc, Vushtrri.
According to police, it is suspected that a man first killed a woman, and then committed suicide.
"The acting prosecutor of the Mitrovica Provincial Prosecutor's Office has arrived at the scene. Several shell casings were found at the scene that are suspected of being used in this crime. Witnesses are being interviewed and, in coordination with the police, all the circumstances that led to this serious incident are being investigated," the announcement states.
Meanwhile, the Police spokesperson for the Mitrovica region, Avni Zahiti, told KosovaPress that today at around 14:56, the police received information about a murder that occurred in the village of Stanovc, Vushtrri.
"Based on the initial investigations from the scene, it is suspected that the perpetrator, a 58-year-old male with the initials AM, shot and killed the 42-year-old female victim with the initials NH, and then the suspect shot himself. A pistol was found and confiscated as material evidence at the scene. By order of the Prosecutor, the two bodies are being sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy. Police investigators under the leadership of the prosecutor are continuing the investigations for the criminal offenses of "Aggravated Murder" and "Suicide". (A2 Televizion)
