The Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, in coordination with the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, launched an operation in the entire Mitrovica region on Wednesday morning. On suspicion of the criminal offenses of “coercion” and “unauthorized import, export, supply, transportation, production, exchange, mediation or sale of weapons”, 16 people were arrested, 13 of whom ended up in detention for 48 hours.
"By order of the Basic Court of Mitrovica, 21 locations have been searched, including in North Mitrovica, South Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Vushtrri and Skenderaj," reports A2 CNN journalist Ideal Gola.
In Zveçan, part of the responsibility of the Northern Regional Police Directorate, another Kosovo Police officer has been arrested.
"We have raided 4 locations in the north of the country, two in Mitrovica North, one in Leposaviq, and one in Zveçan. […] During this time, a colleague of ours was arrested, a police officer, whom I suspended because he was my police officer and based on the responsibilities and obligations that I have, he was suspended," said the director of the Police in the North, Veton Elshani.
As it is learned, the suspended officer is Tadija Radivojevic. His participation in a case like this is seen as isolated.
"I see it only as an isolated case because the Kosovo Police also has its supervision from higher authorities. […] So there are those who control them, there are those who investigate them, but there are also those who arrest them, always taking into account the isolated cases because if it were otherwise, there would be more, and an organized crime network would emerge," said Arben Dashevci, a security expert.
As material evidence, 9 firearms, 200 cartridges, various ammunition, 15 mobile phones, 2 pairs of handcuffs, a knife, gun barrels, gun receipts and 1 DVR were seized during this operation. (A2 Televizion)
