Prosecution files indictment against "Serbian List" MP for attacks on

The Basic Prosecution of Mitrovica has filed an indictment against Kosovo Assembly member Slavko Simić and another person for attacks on journalists in 2023, in Leposavic.

The prosecution has announced that the indictment relates to the suspicion that Simić committed the criminal offense of "Participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism", under Article 404, paragraph 2, in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

"On June 16, 2023, during the protests against the visit of former Minister EK, in Leposavic, the defendant SS intentionally participated in the crowd of more than eight people, so that at the moment that Minister EK left the Leposavic municipality building, masked civilians began throwing stun grenades in the direction of the official vehicle, and after the official vehicle passed, the defendant ordered the crowd to attack the media, at which point the attack continued towards journalists and media of the Republic of Kosovo, initially with stun grenades, then they hit them with punches, kicks and hard objects such as concrete blocks, bricks, paint and other objects, as a result of which two journalists suffered serious bodily injuries," the Prosecution explains.

Meanwhile, the other defendant UV is suspected of being directly involved in the use of force against journalists of the Republic of Kosovo, and is accused of committing the criminal offenses "Assault" under Article 184 paragraph 3, subparagraph 3.1 of the Criminal Code, and "Participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism", under Article 404 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, upon filing the indictment, requested the court to find the two (2) defendants guilty of the criminal offenses committed and to sentence them according to the law.
