The Basic Prosecution of Pristina has closed the investigations into the murder of Liridona Ademaj in November 2023 and on Wednesday officially sent the indictment to the Basic Court of Pristina.

In the case that was initially initiated as a "robbery resulting in death", the investigation revealed that everything was planned. Charges of aggravated murder now lie against Liridona's ex-husband, Naim Murseli, his cousin Kushtrim Kokalla, and Granit Plava.

Also accused in this case is Tom Dodaj, who sold the weapon with which the murder was committed on the critical day to Naim Murseli.

Although they didn't talk much about the motives, Naimi and Liridona's problems as a couple were mentioned.

"While Liridona and Naimi lived in Sweden, they had an irregular marital and family relationship, during which they had financial problems. You can understand in court the other reasons that Naimi had for planning and committing this murder when the main hearing begins," said the prosecutor in the case, Javorka Përlinçević.

The prosecution said that they have provided a lot of material evidence that proves the involvement of the defendants in this case, therefore they have requested the maximum sentence for them.

"This criminal offense is a criminal offense of 'aggravated murder' committed by a family member and committed in a cunning manner, which qualifies this nature of the criminal offense, therefore, as such, we expect a capital punishment from the court regarding the perpetrators of this criminal offense," said the Chief Prosecutor of Pristina, Zejnullah Gashi.

During the press conference, the prosecutor in the case denied that there was any admission of guilt by the defendants, but they are not interested in a plea agreement either.

"We do not have a plea agreement for this case, this does not mean that there was no request for something like this, however, in this serious case, I think that the case should not end with a plea agreement, but that all facts and circumstances be brought before the court," said the prosecutor in the case, Javorka Përlinçević.

The four defendants are expected to appear before the trial panel within the next two weeks when the Basic Court of Pristina schedules the first session for the initial review. (A2 Televizion)
