The Minister of Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, has announced the closure of a parallel Serbian institution, the Tax Agency of Serbia, which was operating illegally in North Mitrovica. Sveçla stated that the illegal activities of this institution will be investigated by the relevant bodies of the Republic of Kosovo.
The Serbian Tax Agency is accused of illegally collecting financial resources from citizens and businesses living and operating in the territory of Kosovo. According to the minister, this activity constitutes a form of tribute, which is prohibited and punishable according to the laws of Kosovo. Svečla emphasized that this activity was carried out by criminal groups that serve the interests of Serbia.
"We will continue the fight against any attempt at institutional and criminal parallelism orchestrated by Serbia, which violates the sovereignty and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo," said Sveçla.
This action comes as part of the government's efforts to consolidate institutional control in the north of the country and to prevent the destabilizing influence of Serbian parallel structures in this region. (A2 Televizion)
