Complaints about results, recount in Vushtrri. The process is not expected to

The completion of the electoral process and the certification of the election results are not expected to occur before March 18. The completion of the count has left room for possible complaints before the announcement of the result. The Basic Prosecution of Mitrovica ordered a recount of the votes of the Democratic League of Kosovo in Vushtrri, following complaints by the candidate for MP Rrezarta Krasniqi that her party colleague, Xhafer Tahiri, manipulated the votes.

Krasniqi claims that at one polling station, Tahiri received more votes than Lumir Abdixhiku, the leader of the LDK. The recount, which began on Thursday, continued throughout Friday, with the media not allowed there due to the investigation and the presence of prosecutors.

"The Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica has ordered a recount of all votes from polling stations in the municipality of Vushtrri for a political entity. This recount comes after the annexes of a candidate for MP from this entity, citing suspicions of vote manipulation within the entity to which the complainant belongs. After the recount of the polling stations, further proceedings will be taken depending on the findings," the Prosecution says.

The Vetëvendosje Movement also asks the prosecution to investigate the votes received by mail for claims of manipulation by the Democratic League of Kosovo, but the prosecution has not confirmed whether investigations have been launched.

"The phenomenon of vote theft in general is a worrying practice that undoubtedly damages the integrity of electoral processes and also weakens citizens' trust and confidence in democratic and institutional institutions," Melos Kolshi from IKL told A2.

The fact that the Central Election Commission did not start the counting on time also leads to more complaints. All these deadlines take their time and this affects the delay in the formation of new institutions due to the fact that the deadlines set by the Constitution and judgments of the Constitutional Court begin to flow from the certification of the election results.

"In addition to the delay in announcing the results, the counting of candidates' votes was also delayed. This process was not carried out simultaneously in all municipalities, which could create space for requests from political parties for a recount of votes through complaints and eventual contestation of the results by political entities as well as by candidates for deputies," Kolshi emphasizes.

Regarding criminal offenses related to possible vote manipulation, the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo provides for fines up to a prison sentence of up to 5 years. (A2 Televizion)
