Failure of the 24th in Kosovo, no vote for the commission to supervise the

Kosovo Assembly members failed on Saturday, for the 24th time in a row, to constitute the parliament that emerged from the February 11 elections. For the 16th time, an attempt was made to establish a commission to oversee the secret ballot, which was rejected by PDK, LDK, Srpska Lista, and AAK.

Even in the session held on Saturday morning, MPs did not vote to form a committee to oversee the secret ballot for the new speaker.

This voting method was proposed on May 1 by the chair of the session, Avni Dehari, after the Vetëvendosje Movement candidate for speaker of parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, failed to receive the 61 votes needed to be elected to the post in several open ballots. The successive failures are occurring despite calls from internationals and civil society for the rapid establishment of new institutions.

The constitutive session began on April 15. So far, the deputies have passed two agenda items: the report of the temporary committee for the verification of mandates and the oath of deputies. However, the process has stalled on the third item: the election of the speaker of parliament. (A2 Televizion)
