The Central Election Commission announces that the voting by mail period is continuing for all citizens registered to vote by sending the ballot by mail to one of the mailboxes opened by the CEC outside Kosovo or by sending the ballot by mail to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo.
In order to enable voting by mail, mailboxes are operating in 22 different countries around the world, including the CEC mailbox in Kosovo, and starting today, the CEC has begun withdrawing the first ballot packages from mailboxes, to which Kosovo citizens registered to vote by mail can send their ballot package.
In accordance with procedures, on Thursday, 6,054 packages with ballots were withdrawn from the CEC mailbox in Stuttgart, Germany, and they were sent to the Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in this city, which was placed in a security room that is monitored by cameras 24 hours a day.
This process was carried out under the supervision of CEC members and staff, observers from political entities accredited to observe the electoral process, and authorized representatives of the diplomatic mission.
These ballot packages and others that will be withdrawn periodically will be brought to Kosovo in the coming days. According to the procedures, these ballot packages will initially undergo an evaluation process, which includes verifying whether they belong to registered voters and whether other prescribed procedures have been followed, while the counting of these ballots will take place at a later stage at the Counting and Results Center, after election day. The process of evaluating postal deliveries will also be able to be observed by observers accredited by the CEC.
The CEC has also carried out the withdrawal of 80 packages with ballots from the mailbox in Podgorica, Black Sea, which were transported as diplomatic packages and placed in the area for the collection and evaluation of packages with ballots in the CEC building.
Also, the CEC, under the monitoring of political party observers, has withdrawn 712 packages of ballots from the mailbox in Vienna, Austria, which will be subject to the same procedure.
The postal voting period for all Kosovo citizens who are registered to vote from outside Kosovo and who have selected this voting method began on January 9 and will end on February 8, 2025. (A2 Televizion)
