Former Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, has said that her name will once again be proposed for Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo in Monday's session, even though today she twice failed to receive the 61 votes needed for this position.
She stated to the media that the opposition is keeping the Parliament blocked, as they did not support the Vetëvendosje proposal.
"First, let me thank the 57 MPs who supported me to be the Speaker of the Assembly, 4 more votes are needed. So, out of all the MPs, 61 must be in favor. As you understood, the session was suspended, within 48 hours the next session was called. The Assembly is not constituted without electing the Speaker and Deputy Speakers. We were ready to continue with further procedures, but it seems that the opposition is keeping the Assembly blocked because they do not support the VV proposal. It is up to the VV to make the next proposal, it will be the same name," she said.
In two votes in today's session, Haxhiu received only 57 votes out of the 61 needed to elect the Speaker of Parliament.
The Social Democratic Initiative did not vote in favor of it even though Haxhiu himself had stated that they have the necessary numbers. (A2 Televizion)
