“Kosovo has no plan B, other than its membership in the European Union.” This was stated by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during a discussion in Brussels organized by the Center for European Policy Studies.

"The time has come for Kosovo and the EU to intensify joint efforts to overcome the obstacles that hinder Kosovo's EU membership process," Kurti said.

In his speech, Kurti added that the Western Balkan countries are ready to play a crucial role within the European Union. Kurti did not leave out mentioning the Russian influence in the Balkans and its destabilizing efforts to prevent the accession of the Western Balkan countries to the EU.

“Our efforts to advance democracy, the rule of law and the fundamental values of the EU were accepted with words. But they are very rarely backed up by actions. In other words, our policies are more liked than supported. Our neighbor’s policies are less liked, but more supported. Our northern neighbor, which is an aggressor and provokes tensions and aims for destabilization, today shelters and protects terrorists, but it is Kosovo that remains under the restrictive measures of the European Union. Serbia’s game between Moscow and Brussels must not be tolerated. Citizens’ distrust of the EU is growing, especially among young people. The accession process could last from 8 to 14 years, as has happened with other countries, due to strict criteria such as democratic stability, the rule of law and the adaptation of legislation. Kosovo’s path is expected to be more complicated, as it is the first country to apply for EU membership without being recognized by all member states. Currently, Spain, Romania, Cyprus, Greece and "Slovakia does not recognize the independence of Kosovo," Kurti said. (A2 Televizion)
