Kurti with demands for Sorensen, Osmani with remarks for the Association

The European Union's Special Representative for the Dialogue, Peter Sorensen, is conducting an important three-day visit to Kosovo. He initially met with the President, Vjosa Osmani, with whom he discussed a number of topics, but with a focus on the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue.

The Presidency announces that Ms. Osmani presented her observations on the draft statute of association proposed by the EU, requesting that they be treated seriously in order to prevent a major risk to the normal functioning of the state of Kosovo.

Then Sorensen met with the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti. The head of government presented several demands such as the lifting of measures against Kosovo, the surrender of the terrorist leader Milan Radoićić and the full implementation of the normalization agreement. Meanwhile, the mediator Sorensen himself considered his visit to Pristina a "good start".

“We talked about how this process can continue and move forward. It is a good start. Yes, the objective is, of course, that the process can continue and move forward. For now, my objective is to talk to people and understand where they stand on this issue. I have interlocutors here in Pristina, but I also have to go to Belgrade. And after I have had these conversations, I can sit down and assess where we are. But it is very clear that the dialogue process has brought some important developments and we need to build on them,” said EU Special Representative for the Dialogue Peter Sorensen.

Sorensen was asked about the need for compromise in dialogue. "Dialogue is about ensuring that the parties meet. Whether that means compromise or not, that's for the parties to determine," he added.

Regarding a new start or not of the dialogue, Sorensen confirmed that he will work in his own way.  (A2 Televizion)
