Minister Krasniqi: Seven MPs from non-Serb minorities in favor of the

The acting Minister of Administration and Local Government and the chairman of the new Democratic Initiative of Kosovo (IRDK), Elbert Krasniqi, has said that seven MPs from non-Serb minority communities will vote in favor of the constitution of the new Parliament and a government led by the Vetëvendosje Movement.

"We are for the Kurti Government because Kurti won the elections and has the majority of Albanians. Now we are relating the numbers, but it is 42.3% [the number of votes for LVV], it is a lot, it is almost as much as everyone else combined and for us this is an important assessment of the citizens of Kosovo and one that must be respected," said Krasniqi.

After registering as an MP in the new legislature, Krasniqi told the media in front of the Kosovo Assembly that other MPs from the parliamentary group of non-Serb minorities also hold the same position, saying that so far there are seven MPs.

This includes Krasniqi, Emilija Rexhepi from the New Democratic Party (NDS), Albert Kinolli from the United Roma Party, Rasim Demiri from the VAKAT coalition, and representatives of the Ashkali Party for Integration and those of the KDTP (Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party).

The other three non-Serb minority seats go to Duda Bale from the Bosniak Social Democratic League of Kosovo, Adem Hoxha from the Gorani United Party, and Veton Berisha from the Egyptian Liberal Party. They have not yet declared how they will vote in tomorrow's session.

The votes of MPs from non-Serb minorities – who have ten seats out of a total of 20 that belong to non-majority communities in the Assembly – could be key to the constitution of the ninth legislature to emerge from the February 9 elections, a vote in which the PDK has said it will not participate.

The Third Deputy Prime Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, and also the chairwoman of the NDS, Emilija Rexhepi, said that the new speaker of parliament will be voted on tomorrow.

"We know [who will be nominated as the new speaker of parliament], but the prime minister should say this. I believe that the 'Kurti 3' government will be voted in as soon as possible," said Rexhepi, after registering as an MP in the new legislature.

She added that she has not been invited by any opposition political party to negotiations to form a government.

Representatives of this parliamentary group of non-Serb minorities said that there was no pressure on them not to vote for the constitution of the legislature resulting from the February 9 elections or for a government led by the LVV.

The LVV, which won 48 seats in the Assembly, has the right to nominate the speaker. The constitutive session, scheduled for Tuesday, is considered concluded only after the speaker and deputy speakers have been elected, and the new deputies have taken the oath.

61 votes are required for the presidential election.

Only after this, the LVV will be able to continue with its efforts to form the new Government, for which 61 votes are also required. However, earlier on Monday, the acting Minister for Communities and Returns, Nenad Rašić, told reporters that he is not optimistic that a vote will be held on Tuesday for the new Government of Kosovo.

LVV has previously said that it prefers an executive with parties from non-Serb communities, but has recently admitted that it also needs cooperation with an Albanian party.

AAK and the Democratic League of Kosovo have expressed their opposition to cooperating with the LVV for the Government. However, the Initiative has not set any red lines, while PDK has said that although there are no red lines for any party, it prefers an executive without the LVV.

However, Kurti does not have the full support of non-Serb parties – which have traditionally supported the Government. Some of the non-Serb parties, which have ten seats in the Assembly, have presented demands in exchange for their votes for the government.

If LVV fails to form a Government, then it is up to the President, Vjosa Osmani, to mandate a political entity that proves it has the numbers./ REL (A2 Televizion)
