President Vjosa Osmani received a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in a meeting. Their mission in Kosovo will be to observe the general parliamentary elections on February 9.
President Osmani emphasized that the elections that will be held under the new law will constitute an important step in improving democratic processes in the country.
"President Osmani emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to joining the Council of Europe, therefore it will continue to strengthen the protection of human rights and the strengthening of the rule of law," the Kosovo Presidency's response states.
The delegation in question was also received by the Speaker of the Parliament, Glauk Konjufca. In his message, the Speaker of Parliament says that the meeting discussed the general elections and aspirations for membership in international and European structures.
"President Konjufca reiterated that the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to joining the Council of Europe, as it has been and continues to be committed to preserving and further developing democracy in our country, protecting human rights and strengthening the rule of law," the Kosovo Assembly's response states.
The observation mission from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe was also welcomed at a meeting by Prime Minister Albin Kurti. (A2 Televizion)
