Danish Peter Sorensen has received final approval from European Union foreign ministers for the position of the union's special representative for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which aims to reach a final agreement on the normalization of relations.

But Sorensen begins his assignment as special envoy with an image prejudiced by former envoy Lajcak, who during his tenure was "accused" several times of bias in the dialogue.

Building credibility among the parties is the first step that a Danish diplomat must take, said Prof. Dashamir Burxolli, in a statement for A2CNN.

Regarding credibility, as the first step, Borxulli emphasizes, is that Sorensen comes from a country that has recognized and supported Kosovo, such as Denmark, and the new government of Kosovo must first restore trust in its partners.

The articulating spirit of Kosovo's diplomacy towards partners is very important to achieve the ongoing result of the dialogue, says analyst Albinot Maloku, "what Sorensen represents, supported by the EU, is a guarantee for having a balance during the negotiation of the talks."

As for the order of actions that must be taken to implement the agreements, Maloku emphasizes, "that actions cannot be taken according to the wishes of the parties, but according to the order of implementation agreed upon in the Ohrid annex, listed in the agreement."

Sorensen will take office on February 1st, for an initial term of 13 months. He will succeed envoy Miroslav Lajcak, whose term ends on January 31st.

Sorensen has extensive diplomatic experience in EU structures. He is well-versed in the political circumstances in the Balkan region, which will greatly help him in starting his work to build balanced relations between the parties, political analysts say. (A2 Televizion)
