The Members of the Assembly of Kosovo will gather again today at 10:00, in the twelfth attempt to constitute the legislative institution.
Political parties are unable to reach an agreement, the process has stalled due to disagreements between the election-winning party, the Vetevendosje Movement, and the opposition, regarding the name of the speaker of the Assembly. This situation has caused 11 previous sessions to fail.
Vetëvendosje continues to insist on the candidacy of Albulena Haxhiu for Speaker of the Parliament, a name that opposition parties strongly oppose, describing as "divisive".
In the last three sessions, Vetëvendosje has attempted to change the voting procedure for electing the Speaker of the Assembly, demanding that it be done by secret ballot. However, this proposal has been strongly opposed by PDK, LDK and AAK.
To unblock the situation, the leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, has sent a letter to the leader of LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, 'extending his hand' for cooperation and proposing entering a governing coalition.
Meanwhile, Abdixhiku responded to Kurti yesterday through a letter, in which he proposes the formation of a traditional government with the participation of all political parties in the country.
It remains to be seen today whether the Assembly will be constituted in today's session. (A2 Televizion)
