The political deadlock in Kosovo continues to deepen with parliamentary political parties failing for the twelfth time to constitute the ninth legislature. Vetëvendosje once again insisted on a secret ballot, which did not have a quorum for decision-making as PDK, LDK, Srpska Lista and AAK opposed such a process, preventing the establishment of the commission.
"The imposing tendency of the LVV, their disagreement with the fact that they do not have a majority and will not have a parliamentary majority, is holding this process hostage and has left Kosovo without legitimate institutions," said Memli Krasniqi.
Vetëvendosje, after accusing other parties of blocking the constitution of the Assembly, also rejected the Democratic League's idea for a technical government.
"Someone like Lumir Abdixhiku, who has consistently said that he is not interested in a short-term solution, but in a stable government that sees its mandate through to the end, was precisely the one who rejected this invitation for a long-term government and proposed a transitional government," says Hekuran Murati.
Parties representing minority communities such as Egyptians, Bosniaks, Ashkali and Turks who have pledged their votes to Albin Kurti expressed concern about Abdixhiku's idea. According to them, Abdixhiku wants a mono-ethnic solution that includes only Albanians.
"This exclusionary approach is not in the spirit of the Republic of Kosovo, it is not in the multiethnic spirit of the Republic of Kosovo and for this we must have a direct remark," declares Elbert Krasniqi.
The Democratic League denied that minorities have been excluded since they automatically become part of the Government. The LDK urged minorities not to engage in political battle with the created impasse.
"The paper specifies an inclusive, transitional government where minorities are a constitutional category. The minority community has problems among itself, just as the Albanian community has problems. We are dealing with this issue because they are a constitutional category," said Hykmete Bajrami from LDK.
The Assembly will attempt to establish a constitution again on Friday morning. (A2 Televizion)
