Returning the postal voting of the diaspora to zero would delay the formation of new institutions by two months. The Vetëvendosje Movement is the one that is demanding that the postal voting be repeated due to allegations of vote manipulation by the Democratic League of Kosovo. The rerun is seen as a very complicated process.
"Such a request gives a bad stain to the entire electoral process in Kosovo, because it legitimizes the damage to the process, the integrity of the process, given the fact that there are not a few votes from the diaspora. In total, there are somewhere around 80-90 thousand votes," said Vullnet Bugaqku, KDI.
The Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel, as the first instance for resolving complaints related to the elections, did not grant Vetëvendosje's right, saying that the request was submitted late. Kurti's party has confirmed that it will continue the battle in the second instance, in the Supreme Court. According to them, all those who organized the manipulation scheme must be brought to justice.
“The numerous violations and flagrant manipulation of the postal voting process by the LDK cannot be ignored. The vote and the free will of voters must and will be protected. The integrity of the electoral process must be guaranteed through the cancellation of postal ballots and the organization of a re-voting process,” said the Vetëvendosje Movement.
A possible re-vote would delay the constitution of the new Assembly and Government that should emerge after the elections.
"It will delay the process of announcing the results for at least another month, and then the appeals phase will enter, because after the re-voting is completed, the deadlines for appeals are the same as for voting for the first time, and thus the process of establishing institutions will be delayed, perhaps for the next two months," Bugaqku said.
Regarding diaspora votes, the only decision the Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel made was that 1,613 ballots that had been declared invalid be re-evaluated and included in the final result. (A2 Televizion)
