The Democratic League of Kosovo has dismissed all rumors of a possible coalition with the Vetevendosje Movement, which would be a repeat of the 2020 alliance in Kosovo's shortest-lived government, Kurti 1.
This was made clear on Monday evening by the party's chairman, Lumir Abdixhiku, after he convened the leadership in a meeting that lasted about five hours at its headquarters.
"We have not had any meetings with any of the political parties in Kosovo, especially we have not had any meetings with the ruling party. LDK has a clear position regarding the Vetevendosje Movement: we do not want, do not have, and are not working towards cooperation with them," Abdixhiku said.
While he did not completely close the door to the opposition bloc, Abdixhiku, through the conditions he imposed, made the possibility of a government with the Democratic Party and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo almost impossible, writes A2 CNN.
Initially, he mentioned the position of prime minister and said that he is interested in a majority that could also elect the president next year, which the current numbers do not allow the opposition to do without cooperation with Vetëvendosje.
"LDK will not be part of any government without the position of prime minister, this continues to be our position now and we have also said that LDK does not intend and will not work for a short-term government, so without resolving the basic issue of the president that also determines the next national elections in Kosovo, LDK does not believe that there will be government stability."
Regarding the accusations of the Vetëvendosje Movement that the LDK has manipulated votes received from the diaspora through the mail, demanding that the process be returned to zero, Abdixhiku said that this comes from the disappointment of Kurti's party that has claimed more mandates.
"We cannot claim the collapse of the electoral process just because LDK has grown, we cannot claim the devaluation of the vote for an expatriate candidate just because the ruling party did not receive the 51 mandates it claimed."
Abdixhiku was also asked about the dissatisfaction of LDK parliamentary candidates who have requested a recount, after it was confirmed in Vushtrri that there was vote manipulation.
He said that he has asked all candidates to send any remarks to the relevant institutions in order to protect the citizen's vote. (A2 Televizion)
