Food and beverage prices will be monitored by the Competition Authority until January 15, 2025. This is in order to prevent abuses, especially during the end-of-year holidays.
"Competition" invites citizens to report cases of artificial price increases. All entities that will abuse the prices will be fined up to 10 percent of the turnover of the previous financial year.
" We assure the citizens that we will identify and punish any possible phenomenon of artificial price increase that may be caused by unfair competition practices. Law no. 9121/2003 "On the protection of competition" prohibits all agreements which have as an object or as a consequence the obstruction, limitation or distortion of competition in the market, especially agreements which directly or indirectly set the purchase prices or of sale, or any other terms of trade. Bringing to the attention of networks of commercial enterprises that the violation of Law 9121/2003 "On the protection of competition" constitutes an administrative offense and is sanctioned with a fine, in the amount of up to 10 percent of the turnover of the previous financial year of the enterprises included in the agreement of illegal ", says the notification of the Competition Authority.
