One year from the application of the cervical cancer vaccine for 13-year-old girls, the Institute of Public Health will start a campaign for other ages as well.

In January 2024, the vaccination of girls aged 14 to 20 who want to protect themselves from the virus that causes cervical cancer will begin. The vaccination campaign will last about 6 months and 10,000 doses have been provided for this process.

While for 13-year-old girls, vaccination will continue normally according to the calendar.

In some European countries, the vaccine against cervical cancer is also applied to boys who are carriers of the virus. In Albania, vaccination has started with girls and this is the second year, where more than 15,000 13-year-old girls are expected to be vaccinated.

Cervical cancer is the second most common tumor disease in women. Every year in Albania, 100 new cases are reported, which diagnose the disease in advanced stages. This disease can be prevented through periodic checkups and vaccination against the virus that causes cancer. (A2 Televizion)
