"Election crime in focus of SPAK:" Dumani to journalists: We are

Electoral crime has been the main priority of the Special Prosecution Office throughout the entire electoral process. This was stated by the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, during a meeting with journalists. He emphasized that SPAK was engaged since March and throughout the campaign, with a strategy aimed at preventing violations, and according to him, this strategy yielded results.

"We waited for the CEC to distribute the mandates and consider the electoral process closed. You have been informed time and time again about electoral crime. SPAK has been engaged since March until the end of the electoral process. The strategy had, first of all, a preventive effect, and it has given this effect," said Dumani, writes A2 CNN.

According to him, the cooperation with the General Prosecutor's Office and the Central Election Commission was effective, emphasizing that SPAK has administered 193 materials, in which evidence has been found that are in the process. Dumani also emphasized that two people have been arrested in flagrante delicto, and 16 court decisions have been taken for inspections.

"There are 193 materials administered in total. 80 materials, reports from citizens. 10 initiated primarily. Of the 43 registered, 1 has been sent to court, 1 suspended, 1 forwarded for competence. 2 people have been arrested in flagrante delicto. 16 court decisions for inspections. The results have been satisfactory. Evidence has been found for the cases we have in process."

According to the head of SPAK, prosecutors have prioritized handling these cases and that evidence has been obtained for some of the ongoing investigations.

"Prosecutors prioritize electoral crimes. In 43 cases, a decision was made not to initiate proceedings, as there were no elements of a criminal offense. They were mainly from political parties. Only 3 of them were appealed and the court confirmed the prosecution."

Asked whether or not there was electoral asphalt, illegal employment, or use of the administration, Dumani replied:

"In the cases we have investigated, there have been none. I do not undertake to say more. Is there an investigation into campaign financing? So far we have no criminal investigation. For electoral corruption, do you have officials in the investigation and up to what level of the state hierarchy? Yes, we have officials. About the level, at a later moment." (A2 Televizion)
