The decrease in demand has caused that in the last days of the year, the price of the so-called king of the table on the night of the change of years, the turkey, has decreased significantly.
At least this is the situation in the area of Fier and Vlora, where the breeders of turkeys and sea chickens are coming out by the national roads and highways to sell. They say that last year the sale of turkey was better, while this year the demand is very low, even though the price has dropped. A2 has stopped near Cakran, by the national road Levan-Tepelena.
Even the few who stop to buy these birds are immigrants who come all the way from Greece. The same situation is in the improvised market at the entrance of the city of Vlora.
Traders say that, while those few interested who visit the market, say that they still cannot afford the prices.
A pensioner from Vlora says that the last days of the year remain the hope of these merchants to sell the turkeys they have raised, just as a good part of the citizens wait for the last days, perhaps to catch lower prices. (A2 Televizion)
