Hundreds of Kosovo Albanians have crossed the border between the two countries on foot in memory of the biblical exodus of 1999, when, as a result of ethnic cleansing carried out by Slobodan Milosevic's Serbian army, thousands of Kosovars took refuge in our country. This symbolic march is a reminder and thanksgiving for that difficult time.
Every April 16 since 1999, hundreds of Kosovo Albanians have symbolically crossed the administrative border between Kosovo and Albania on foot to commemorate the ethnic cleansing of Slobodan Milosevic's Serbian army on the one hand, but also the welcome of all Albanians. This year's march was dedicated to the slogan: Let's not forget the past for a future in the European Union.
While Albanians in Kosovo and Albania have thanked and welcomed each other over the years, politics has not done the same, which according to participants in this march leaves much to be desired.
The marchers were then welcomed in the city center of Kukes, where a festive program was also organized.
