25 transport vans and 15 electric cars have been given to Albania by the UK government, at a cost of 1.5 million pounds, as part of the agreement for the return of Albanian prisoners.
According to her, 200 Albanian prisoners in England and Wales will be sent to Albania for the rest of their sentences.
During the presentation, the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, said that 10 prisons will be closed as a result of the reformation of prison institutions, while some of them will be returned as places of memory.
4524 prison employees are the biggest investment according to the Minister of Justice, while the government, he said, has made it possible to equalize the salaries of these employees with those of the State Police.
The English ambassador, Alastair King Smith, said that the cooperation between England and Albania has reached the point of not only reforming the prison system, but also stopping criminal groups operating between the two countries or preventing illegal immigration.
Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku confirmed the government's decision to increase human resources, but also capacities such as the fleet of vehicles.
The reform envisages that 20 prisons will be reduced to 15, providing savings in the state budget. It is also predicted that 10 percent of the already approved 2024 budget will go to increasing salaries for employees of the prison system. (A2 Televizion)
