Today, the Conference of the Chief Justices of the Supreme Courts of several countries is being held in Vlora.

President Bajram Begaj and the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, spoke at this conference.

During his speech, Begaj said that in Albania we need to ensure more trust in the law, while adding that our aspirations for justice are common.

He also said that independence in judgment is autonomy. According to Begaj, the high number of files in the courts should be reduced as soon as possible, writes A2 CNN.

"We must ensure trust in the law. Our aspirations for justice are shared. Albania and its citizens deserve impartial, efficient and equal justice for all. The role of the judiciary becomes more important as they face challenges that are common to all. The independence of the judicial system is of vital importance.

Independence means autonomy in judgment. Justice should not have external influences. Transparency and accountability should be the foundations of this justice. Both together guarantee the foundations of justice. Citizens' access to justice becomes a top priority so that justice does not remain a difficult mission. For everyone, investments in justice must be a priority. The number of files must definitely be reduced.

The main challenge remains the reduction of the number of transferred files. This issue requires an urgent and efficient solution. I have supported and continue to support the justice system, the work and results so far of justice workers. Guaranteeing a due process of law. We must guarantee European justice. I express the conviction and hope that together we will build a more independent common justice system", said President Begaj, among other things.

The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, also spoke at the conference, saying that trust in justice is essential for citizens.

He also gave guarantees that within a few years the justice system will be supported by modern services and will provide impartial justice to citizens.

"Trust in justice is essential for citizens. The reform in justice has had as its foundation the increase in transparency and integrity in justice. The discussion between domestic and international jurisdiction is key for a country like Albania that supports and aspires to the European Union. Cooperation between institutions must be harmonious in the service of justice and citizens. Albania has undertaken one of the largest investments in increasing capacities in technology, in the modernization of the justice system. This investment was made together with the support of the European Union. They ensure that within a few years the justice system is supported by modern services and offers impartial justice to citizens. Organizing this conference is a great responsibility for us but above all an appreciation for our work", said Minister Manja, among other things.
