Archbishop Anastasios' coffin arrives, tearful believers pay homage at the "Resurrection of Christ" Cathedral

Hundreds of Orthodox believers gathered near the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ to honor Archbishop Anastasios Yanullatos, who passed away on Saturday. The Archbishop's open casket, carried by Orthodox clergy, arrived at the Cathedral after departing from the Cathedral of Athens on Monday morning.

Along the way, the archbishop stopped in the areas he served and worked for the reconstruction of the Albanian Autocephalous Church. Tributes will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the funeral ceremony will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Sources from the Orthodox Church tell A2 CNN that Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis, along with 5 Greek ministers, will also participate in the tributes for Archbishop Anastasios Yanullatos.

Also participating will be all the country's metropolitans; representatives from foreign embassies in our country; a high-level delegation from the Vatican; representatives of other religious communities; the Patriarch of Israel, Alexandria and Cyprus; and high-level representatives from Christian Churches around the world.
