Although in the cell, where he is being held under the security measure of "prison arrest" following the charges brought against him by SPAK, former president Ilir Meta expressed his condolences for the passing of the Archbishop of the Orthodox Church, Anastasios Janullatos, writes A2 CNN.
"A special spiritual leader and inspiring example of love for people, with divine vision and rare wisdom, we will forever remain grateful to him for everything he has done in these years for the Glory of God, for the good of the Church, which in difficult circumstances he rebuilt from the ruins and developed further, for the good of the Albanian Orthodox believers, for the strengthening of harmony, tolerance and inter-religious coexistence, this national treasure of our people," Meta wrote on his Facebook account.
"The extraordinary contribution and valuable dedication of His Beatitude over more than three decades has served not only the canonical and spiritual revival of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania and the education and preparation of the new generation of Albanian clergy, but also its international affirmation and recognition throughout the world. Our deepest condolences for this great and irreplaceable loss to the senior leaders of the Church and the entire Orthodox community of Albania!
The legacy of Archbishop Anastasios will always remain alive and his memory will be unforgettable! May he rest in well-deserved peace!” (A2 Televizion)
