Artan Lame, one of the well-known figures of Albanian public life, has passed away at the age of 58. He headed the Agency for Legalization, Urbanization and Integration of Informal Areas (ALUIZNI) for several years, as well as holding other state positions, while being active in the ranks of the Socialist Party.
A2 CNN learns that Artan Lame passed away in Munich where he had gone for heart surgery.
During his career, Artan Lame has held important positions, including those as deputy minister and director of the Cadastre and Legalization Agency.
Lame was a publicist, opinion writer, researcher of Albanian history, and an activist for the protection of the country's cultural heritage.
Born in Tirana in 1967, originally from the village of Qytezë i Kolonjës, Artan Lame left his mark as part of civil society and as a public official.
Institutional and political career
Artan Lame has held a number of important public functions:
2000 – Director of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture
2000-2002 – Deputy Mayor of Tirana Municipality
2002-2005 – Deputy Minister of Territory and Tourism
2013-2019: General Director of ALUIZNI (Agency for Legalization, Urbanization and Integration of Informal Areas).
2019-2021: Director General of ASHK (State Cadastral Agency).
In political activity, Lame was an active member of the Socialist Party, part of the National Assembly and a candidate for deputy in the parliamentary elections of 2005, 2009 and 2013. He also contributed to the drafting of the SP program in the period 2011–2013.
Contribution to culture and academia
Lame was vice president of the Albanian Collectors Federation, a member of international collectors' clubs and a scholar of heraldry. He directed the Albanian Heritage Center and was a lecturer at the "Marin Barleti" University.

Awards and decorations
In 2010, Lame was awarded the international “Book of the Year” award by MIC London for his work “Albanian Medals 1914–2002”. In 2012, the President of the Republic decorated him with the “Medal of Gratitude” for his contribution to the 100th anniversary of Albania’s Independence. (A2 Televizion)
