After the latest case of meningitis presented at the Durrës hospital and then admitted to the QSUT, the Local Health Care Unit in Durrës has reacted, providing details on the situation. According to it, from the latest data, it is learned that no suspected case of meningitis has been presented during pediatric and adult emergencies in Durrës, writes A2 CNN.
"Exactly today, 14.02.2025, from the information received from the Pediatric Emergency and Adult Emergency at SRD, we have the following data: Pediatric Emergency 128 visits and NO cases of meningitis, Adult Emergency 228 visits, of these 66 febrile status and NO cases of meningitis."
According to the local unit, after the suspected case of the student of the "Kushtrimi i Lirisë" school, the unit launched an epidemiological investigation, sending staff to the SRD, making contact with family members and details for taking measures.
"The suspected case was a student of the "Kushtrimi i Lirisë" school, managed in time by the SRD, and sent in time to the QSUT, currently under the supervision of doctors. After confirmation of the case by the QSUT, the Durrës NJVKSh began the epidemiological investigation, sending staff to the SRD to start the investigation, to make contact with family members and the necessary details as a necessary element for taking measures. Prophylaxis was urgently advised (student, family member, teacher, health staff). Also, the Epidemiology staff has been present at the school premises, to continue the investigation, continuous communication with educational structures ," the announcement states, reports A2 CNN.
The unit informs that we are not in a meningitis panic situation, while emphasizing that work continues to inform parents and students about the symptoms of the disease.
"Information meetings continue in the city's schools regarding the information of staff, parents and students regarding the identification signs, meetings that will also provide accurate information about the situation, as well as providing information that we are not in the conditions to have a panic situation in the schools of the city of Durrës. I reiterate the fact that we are only talking about one confirmed case, despite the situation presented in the media. A case that occurred some time ago and in this current situation has been followed in the same way and the steps of the investigation and measures to protect the health of the population, and we have communicated by official email and with the Durrës ZVA that we are alone in these conditions and we are not in another situation to add any element of panic."
